Whether evaluating a current contact lens prescription or evaluating you for a new fitting, there are many more factors that your doctor will need to take into account while examining your eyes. Often a Corneal Topographer will be used to assess the curvature and condition of the front of the eye. Here are just a few things that you will receive as part of the contact lens evaluation:

Current Contact Lenses:

• Condition of lenses?

• Proper alignment on the eye?

• Adequate movement with the blink?

• Allowing tear movement and oxygen access?

• (If Toric) Acceptable rotation / positioning?

• Vision with lenses? (Distance / Near)

• Most importantly: healthy eye reaction to lens
  material / fit?

New Contact Lens Fit:

• Corneal condition (infection / dystrophy / swelling)

• Previous treatments / scars / surgeries

• Palpebral aperture Lid position relative to limbus

• Prescription appropriate for lenses / type?

• Pupil size

• Evaluation of Dry Eye

• Over-refraction (possible prescription alteration)

• If gas permeable (alignment with corneal
  surface / staining)

• Training of Insertion / Removal

• Follow-up appointments as needed to
  ensure adequate fit
